We are looking forward to a great time at the ball park this Friday, Vandy vs UT at 6 pm, Hawkins Field. Tickets are $5 and I will be at the outfield gate from 5:30 on, waiting for you all to arrive. If you signed up for tickets, your name and number of tickets is on the list below. Please confirm with me that you want the listed number of tickets (lynchamy@comcast.net) Any extras will be up for grabs so email me if you did not sign up, but now realize it is too good an opportunity to miss. Should be great fun—hope to see you there! We need at least ten class members to paint their chests (V-A-N-D-E-R-B-I-L-T) I will supply the paint.

Heath Jones leads this Sunday with the first of a series of lectures / presentations on the Book Of Judges. Heath will be leading our class through the end of May.

There will not be a class held this Sunday, Easter Sunday. Please join us in the Gymnasium for West End’s annual Easter Brunch. Donations will go to Habitat For Humanity.

Allan Horner leads our class with an overview of Lent and how to recognize the meaning of the Lenten season in the midst of our busy contemporary lifestyles.
Update:
Below is the Cornerstone Holy Week Challenge that Allan distributed in class last Sunday, which includes the daily lectionary selections for this week and Allan’s tips for finding a 10-15 minute break in the day for reflection. You are challenged to attend the Maundy Thursday (Thursday evening at 7:30) and Good Friday services (either noon or 7:30).

You can download a pdf of the form by clicking here.

The Cornerstone Girls Night Out is set for this Friday, April 3rd at Tammy Gray’s house.
We will gather at 6:30 for dinner and conversation. Tammy will serve chicken lasagne and we can bring sides, dessert and beverages. Rachel signed up for bread, Karyn will bring salad, Julia signed up for dessert and I’ll bring some wine. I know that some of you can’t come, but please feel free to stop by even for a few minutes. Let me know if you can make it though, so that we can a good count for dinner.

If anyone has any interest in “reading more about it” after today’s discussion on Afghanistan, I wanted to provide a few links that may be interesting and help folks think about how to get involved.
The Central Asia Institute, founded by the man who wrote “Three Cups of Tea” is here: https://www.ikat.org/
The United Methodist Church seems to be primarily involved on the ground in Afghanistan through the International Assistance Mission: http://www.iam-afghanistan.org/main.htm
They primarily do work related to providing medical care to women and children. You can contribute to to an IAM project through the United Methodist Advance program: http://new.gbgm-umc.org/Advance/projects/search/index.cfm?action=details&id=3020839&code=13352A
But easily the most remarkable website I found is a more general discussion about the importance of young women in the developing world (thanks to the Mortensen website above). Click on this, answer the question, sit back, and watch. http://www.girleffect.org/#/splash/
Hope you find something inspiring!

George Lynch leads the discussion this week based on the Faithlink series. There will be a continental brunch as well - feel free to bring light brunch - type items.
The trip to Pickett was a great success and lots of fun. Check out some of the natural splendor by clicking on the photos above.
Special thanks to the Feldhackers and Miss Jane for joining in the adventures.
Note: Lost and Found - From Missy Wallace:
Found in our bag - one black flip flop
Lost: one brown flip flop, one blue flannel blanket, one brown leather football that has name William Wallace in Sharpie.
Anyone?
If you have any of these items please contact Missy. If you are missing any items or if you have anything you would like to share feel free to comment on this post by clicking on “comments” to the left.
